History

Two entrepreneurs with long experience in the cooling industry early realized the great potential in green refrigeration. In 2002 they started developing a transcritical refrigeration system with carbon dioxide as refrigerant. The first installation of a carbon dioxide system in a grocery store took place in 2003. In 2007, after some further development, the decision was made to commercialise the technology under the trademark Green & Cool. After that, a period of rapid expansion started and in 2010 Green & Cool entered a new phase, with high-volume production in Aubagne, France, of the next generation of cooling systems with carbon dioxide as refrigerant. Certain special units are still built in Sweden, in Luleå and Varberg.
