Even though CO2 is itself a greenhouse gas, one kilogram of today's most widely used refrigerant has more than 3,900 times the greenhouse effect as the same amount of CO2. This means that a single food store that uses HFCs has the same impact on the global warming as 1,850 stores with a CO2 refrigeration system!

Zero environmental impact
Green & Cool re-use CO2 from industry and do not add any new greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. You could say that we "borrow" CO2 from nature for a while, so CO2 refrigeration is deemed to have zero environmental impact by the EU. CO2 is not flammable, is non-toxic and does not affect global warming, unlike HFCs, or the ozone layer, unlike CFCs.
