OKQ8 in Sweden chooses refrigeration from Green & Cool for its first sustainable filling station
Green & Cool has developed a special concept for petrol stations and convenience stores, and now offers a range of compact refrigeration units with integrated heat recovery. OKQ8 in Sweden has chosen to install refrigeration based on Green & Cool’s concept at its first sustainable filling station, OKQ8 Häggvik, outside Stockholm, which opened in mid-January 2012. The trial station will be used to evaluate a number of innovations that are intended to help reduce the environmental impact of future filling stations. Energy consumption at OKQ8 Häggvik is 50 per cent lower than that of a conventional filling station, for example.
The choice of Green & Cool as a supplier is one step in the efforts of OKQ8 to move towards more sustainable motoring.
“We were looking for a refrigeration supplier who offered the best environmental performance and operating economy, and Green & Cool turned out to be the best option,” says Andréa Haag, SHE Manager for OKQ8.
OKQ8 is half-owned by Kuwait Petroleum International and half-owned by the OK Economic Association. Kuwait Petroleum International is a state-owned Kuwaiti oil company with marketing companies in seven European countries. The OK Economic Association is jointly owned by over one million members and its main mission is to provide specialty retail services to motorists.
